By Kermit Rowe There is just something about a couple working together to achieve a common goal. It just seems if they do it for the right reason, the right way, there’s an incredible power in it. My wife of 34½ years, Nancy, and I ran across a program called New Life Promise and its motto is “Where Food Meets Faith.” Being believers, the motto intrigued us and we decided to go all-in to improve our health and do it together for the first time in our 40-year relationship. The results so far are a combined 117 pounds lost in five months. The main goals of the eating lifestyle change is eliminating processed sugar, white flour, pre-prepared processed foods and most artificial sweeteners. Instead of eating processed foods, you prepare most meals from provided nutritious recipes using provided shopping lists and following set menus while focusing on spiritual devotions and teamwork towards a healthier version of you. This required a lot of extra work from both of us, for her in preparing the meals and for me helping her with extensive clean-up and shopping. But the biggest change was the joint sacrifice and shared commitment to become healthier for each other and for God. Blessings we’ve discovered through this include:
