I read a troubling, head-spinning bit of information in a news feed I've subscribed to. The source is Fight the New Drug, a grassroots effort to educate and empower people to live free of pornography. Their website is exceptional with tons of research-based data, and it is truly inspiring to see the number of young people who are championing the cause. (Website link will be included below) Back to the sickening news of a major porn distributor offering to "help" during the coronavirus isolation. What?? You won't believe what was posted! In March Pornhub, a major distributor of porn, posted this offer to citizens of Italy: “To keep you company at home during these weeks, you’ll be able to access Pornhub Premium for free for the whole month, with no need for a credit card.” Apparently, Pornhub was also going to donate a portion of its proceeds to local hospitals.
It seems that many around the world have already made their way to porn as a way of dealing with heightened stress, anxiety and isolation. The worldwide outreach to pornography during the pandemic has increased 11.6%. As a pornography-free survivor myself, I can tell you that the last thing to reach out for to help with uncertainty, anxiety, boredom, isolation and all that goes with a worldwide pandemic is hours and hours of free porn. In fact, pornography is quite a pandemic in itself, and it would be wise to self-quarantine against it. As stated on the Fight the New Drug website, pornography . . .
I beg you, don't fall for it. If you or someone you love is struggling with a suddenly powerful pull toward porn, do this first: Visit and saturate your heart/mind with the resources at https://fightthenewdrug.org/. You'll be glad you did!
