Anger. Fear. Sadness. Joy. Excitement. You've felt these emotions. All people do. But not all people know what to do with them. Want to know a master skill in understanding yourself and others?
Ask yourself often, "What emotions am I feeling?" And "What met or unmet need are they connected to?" We even have a colorful Feelings Chart below that you can view or download to help become more perceptive. The left column is devoted to emotions felt when needs are NOT being met; the right column, when they ARE being met.
The value of tuning in to our own feelings is that it makes us more empathetic with the feelings of others. Empathy is a major building block for healthy relationships.
So, what emotions are you feeling right now? What do you think they are connected to?
