Leaving a legacy
By Lavern Nissley
Ever thought about what you'll leave for the next generation? What you'll be honored for as your life winds down?
We celebrated the 90th birthday of Ronda's mom this past weekend. Her father isn't far behind in age, turning 90 next August. Being together with Ronda's siblings in inlaws was inspirational and gave me a profound appreciation for the legacy these two people are leaving.
Ninety years is a long time to be alive! Ronda's mom was born in 1929, her dad in 1930, and their 70th wedding anniversary is next year. How the world has changed in all those decades! Numerous wars. Advances in technology. Cultural shifts. Definitely a different planet.
Levi and Cora Miller raised 9 children on a middle income wage. All of their children have come to value faith, family, fruitfulness and fun. To be part of a Miller family gathering, large or small, leaves me feeling very grateful to be part of such a supportive, generous and loving family network. Truly rare today.
It has been said that the true test of your parenting is not in how your children turn out; it's how your grandchildren live their lives! Currently Levi and Cora have 27 grandchildren and 49 great grandchildren. And it is clear that they have left to the next generations a precious legacy of faith, family, fruitfulness and fun.
Thank you, Mom and Dad!

Wow! What a family, what an accomplishment. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Miller. By the way, Cora Miller was my grandma's maiden name. It is a small world.

I was going to say the same thing as Nancy Patton said about our grandmother as Nancy is my 1st cousin ❤️. What a legacy! Thank you so much for sharing this story and reminding me of the importance of pouring into my grandchild!
