Aging with beauty

I watched a hush fall over the waiting area of the License Bureau as an elderly couple slowly crossed the huge distance from the door to the clerk. Holding each other for stability, him with a red-tipped cane, her with a handful of documents, both with eyes forward, they seemed to reflect decades of memories. A picture of lasting commitment.

Who was this couple? And why did they attract the attention of all in the room?

​The couple was my mom and dad, both 86 years old, married for 64 years this October. 

Words can’t express the sense of pride and respect for them I felt as I slowly walked alongside them, feeling all eyes upon us.

Our goal was to acquire an Ohio driver’s license for mom and Ohio plates for their car as they have recently relocated from Illinois.

But what I walked out with was a deeper appreciation for “getting better with age”.

There is something about older couples in committed relationships that outlasts faded beauty from earlier years.

A video treat for you today. The young couple featured is about to get married. They have been aged to their 50’s, 70’s and 90’s with the help of makeup artists.
