By Lavern Nissley In early October of 2020 as a client couple was wrapping up the final session in the RINGS course, the husband asked an intriguing question: "Do you have a RINGS quick reference guide to help us remember all of the skills and insights we've learned. We don't want to forget what we've just completed." "What a great idea!" I responded. Since its launch in May, 2007, RINGS has been experienced by thousands of couples. And this was the first time such a request had ever been voiced. What could we develop for completing couples to post on their refrigerators or bathroom mirrors? What you'll see below is the final outcome - with much appreciation to Joe Candio for the initial idea. Starting from the bottom is a listing of key practical insights related to each of the 13 skill areas in the RINGS Experience. Those are grouped into the 4 categories of Knowing who you are, Mastering communication skills, Dealing with real life, and Moving forward together.
If you've ever experienced RINGS, you'll recognize the animals and some of the "insider" content. If you've never experienced RINGS, hopefully this gives you a feel for the journey that thousands have taken the past 14 years, mostly in classroom settings. In 2020, mostly due to COVID, we pivoted to all virtual RINGS education plus live coaching (in person or via Zoom). Additional facilitators have been trained to help us keep up with the increasing demand. You can check it out at https://www.encompasscc.org/rings.html. Enjoy the ride!
