Shaunti Feldhahn's research shows that 89% of relationships improved - even if one-sided. |
7 common negatives to nix
- "This will be hard" - Instead of saying, "This is hard," think and say, "I need to think before I speak, and I can do it."
- Exasperation, Irritation, and Pointing Out Mistakes - If you don't make a point of irritably stating what someone missed, it won't bother you as much.
- Sarcasm - Reducing it allows space for positives like empathy, gratitude, and trust to grow.
- Grumble, Grumble - Eliminating this one, we gain more enjoyment of what we have as discontentment and dissatisfaction drop dramatically.
- You Hurt Me, I Hurt You - Confronting negativity arising from anger and hurt brings greater peace and more purpose.
- Suspicion - Although there are appropriate times to question or mistrust, most often it's better for relationships when we don't think the worst possible scenario.
- Catastrophizing -More enjoyment of life and a lighter heart result when we avoid foolish arguments or talk about potential catastrophes.
